Daraz Launches Seller Sahayatri Program with Rs 55 Lakh Subsidy to Support Local SMEs
The on-going epidemic has caused a severe concussion on the overall economy of the country, let alone the fact on how it is affecting the small-and-medium enterprises during this period of economic downturn and uncertainty. So, Daraz the number one online store in Nepal has taken an initiative to help this unfortunate situation. On April 27, 2020, Daraz has launched the Daraz Seller Sahayatri Program with a subsidy of NPR 55 lakhs and is inviting businesses across the country to set up their online shops on Daraz.
Under this program, Daraz will help new sellers set up their stores online on Daraz with dedicated one-on-one support and access to free business consultation. Daraz will also provide 0 marketplace fee for Sellers, and help them get back on their feet by making the best out of the surge in the e-commerce platform.
Well, while the total economic impact of the outbreak of COVID-19 in Nepal is yet to be determined, it is evident that the small-and-medium enterprises (SME) sector which contributes around 22% of the GDP and generates around 17 lakh employment has taken a major hit causing an immense breakdown on economic and fundamental aspects in everyone’s day-day lives.
So, in order to revitalize the economy and further alleviate the impact of the pandemic, it is significant to reinvigorate the SME sector. In order to contribute to the efforts, Daraz, the leading online marketplace in the country, has initiated the Daraz Seller Sahayatri Program – a program through which the platform is inviting retailers and businesses across the country to set up their digital ventures on Daraz to broaden your horizons of their revenue streams beyond traditional brick and mortar.
This very initiation is currently being executed in all of Daraz’s operating countries and aims to strengthen the SME sector by providing a subsidy(financial support) of nearly half a million US dollars with dedicated one-on-one support and access to free business consultation.
Also, under the curriculum, Daraz Nepal has promised to charge 0% marketplace fees to SMEs on the sales made from the platform for the months of May and June 2020 which is a very good initiative. Now as for the program the total local support package includes subsidies of more than NPR 55 lakh and the company is providing a swift online store set up so that new businesses can start selling on Daraz on the go as soon as possible. In addition, businesses will also have access to analytical tools, free-of-cost education, and training on eCommerce operations through Daraz University as the platform focuses on education to ensure sellers can optimize their business on Daraz. This is a very good way of implementing initiatives like the people who are totally new the idea of launching the online market can also benefit from these resources.
Additional support initiatives contained by the program also include:
Weekly payouts to all Daraz sellers until 30th June 2020
Dedicated campaigns and visibility on the Daraz app for all SME sellers
Free access to analytical tools to improve performance
One-on-one support to help new sellers set up their online shops
With the establishment of the initiative, Daraz is confident that the Sahayatri program will help thousands of SMEs get back on their feet by leveraging the increased e-commerce activity and reaching millions of Daraz customers across the country.
While Daraz is also encouraging all businesses that wish to transition online to reach out to the company or just simply register on the platform’s seller sign up page.
