If you remember, I shared an article about “THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE BUYING AN ANDROID SMARTPHONES” a few months ago. Where I shared some of the basic things that I check before buying or recommending any android smartphone to our readers here at Gadgets In Nepal. So Gionee S6s almost nail all those basic requirements.
Yes, almost, because in that article I said I prefer a smartphone that comes with Qualcomm processor rather than a MediaTek processor. Because on CPU performance both comes neck to neck but when it comes to GPU performance Adreno GPUs found on Qualcomm processor are till now ahead of Mali GPUs found on MediaTek, Exynos, and Kirin processors. So if you are up to some serious budget mobile gaming then Gionee S6s might not be the best option.
But Gionee is not promoting Gionee S6s a gaming smartphone rather they are targeting selfie enthusiasts. Gionee S6s comes with an 8MP front-facing camera with an aperture of f2.2 and an LED flash to take great selfies at low light conditions. I’m not 100% sure, but I guess Gionee for the first time is using Sony Image Sensor on Gionee S6s. Sony Image sensors are one of the best image sensor found on smartphones. Gionee S6s is using the Sony IMX258 image sensor on its rear camera, which is, by the way, is the same sensor found in Xiaomi Mi4c. You can find a camera sample of Xiaomi Mi4c HERE.
Gionee S6s also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back to unlock the device, taking selfies and securing your data. So on paper Gionee S6s looks very promising but you will have to wait for our final verdict for Gionee S6s after we get our hands-on with Gionee S6s.
So how does it stack up against smartphones like Huawei GR5, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3? Let’s find it out by comparing all of them with their specs and prices.

I’m really amazed at how Gionee Nepal is able to launch its smartphone at cheaper price here in Nepal compared to the Indian market. Because Gionee S6s is available in India at Rs.17,999 (Indian Currency), which is around Rs.28,798.4 (Nepalese Rupee). And here in Nepal, Gionee S6s is available for just Rs.25,999 which is Rs.2799.4 cheaper compared to the Indian market. If you compare other Smartphone Companies like Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi, their product is cheaper in India compared to Nepal.
