These days it is equally important to check for the battery charging technology along with the battery capacity, so as to keep you connected and use the multimedia without waiting for the charge or connect the battery bank carrying it all the time when you are on the move. When it comes to fast charging your phone, I know Qualcomm’s Quick Charge and OPPO’s VOOC technology. The current rapid/fast/quick charging system from OPPO’s VOOC is 75 % of battery charge within 30 min time and that from Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 is 80 percent of battery charge in 35 minutes.
Mediatek, the SoC manufacturer has unveiled a new charging technology called Pump Express 3.0 which charges a smartphone battery from 0 percent to 70 percent in 20 minutes. That says it to be the fastest charging technology developed till date. They even claim that a charge for 5 minutes will enable to talk for 4 hours in 3G. The solution is world’s first to include the direct charging from the adapter to the battery, through Type-C USB, bypassing the charging circuitry inside the phone. The absence of charging circuitry reduces the heating of the phone significantly. The bidirectional communication between the phone and the adapter has added more than 20 safety protection mechanisms to make it a safe charging solution.
The major improvements from the previous Pump Express 2.0 (included in devices from Sony, Lenovo, Gionee, Meizu) is known to be in the charging speeds, charging efficiency and low temperature while charging.
The solution will be available in MTK Helio P20 SoC series phones at first within this year and other SoCs as per the OEM’s request.
