Recently, Nepal Telecom and China telecom Global has made an agreement to provide IP service through the Terrestrial cable route and join these two nations. The terrestrial cable of china is to be connected from Jilong Gateway (Rasuwa) and from there it will be distributed to various terrestrial cable routes of Nepal.
An agreement to this effect was signed between Executive Vice President of China Telecom Global, Ou Yan and Chief Technical Officer of Nepal Telecom, Lochan Lal Amatya in a program which was held in Hong-Kong. Only a few months ago NT and China Telecom Global were connected through optical fiber to extend high speed internet service in Nepal. The area is now linked with the overland route through china which will also be easier to connect with other country’s service provider. Compared to route of India the China route is a better way to get connected with international connectivity as well.
Now it’s possible to get the internet facilities from china route as well. Before that internet connection was imported only from Indian route. In the organized agreement program Nepal Telecom chief technical officer Lal amatya promised that Nepal Telecom will be able to take advantage of the route. Furthermore, he said that “China telecom has shown the interest to provide reliable service and expected to establish Nepal as transit Hub from that same route.”
Similarly, Ou Yan from China Telecom Global said that the new Nepal-China route will provide reliable service to Nepal and state-of-the-art transit service to India and the rest of the world. He also committed to provide routes to Nepal Telecom with cutting-edge facility.
