We already have many Chinese brand smartphones available in Nepal. And today a new Chinese brand called “Nubia” has also stepped into our Nepali market. It was a wholly-owned subsidiary company of ZTE initially but in 2017 ZTE reduced its stake in Nubia to 49.9% to become an associate company.
Nubia has stepped into our market with its four smartphones and is competing with other phones in the midrange budget category. The authorized distributor of Nubia smartphones in Nepal is ITP Nepal PVT LTD and as of now, they have made 4 Nubia smartphones available in Nepal: Nubia N2, Nubia M2 Lite, Nubia Z7mini, and Nubia Z7mini-S. Let’s find out the specification and prices of all four Nubia smartphones.
Nubia M2 Lite:
Again we have another Smartphone from Nubia i.e Nubia M2 Lite. We get 5.5 inches IPS LCD display with 720 X 1280 resolution and has Nubia UI 4.0 on top for its UI/UX regulation. Likewise, the operating system for this is Marshmallow 6.0,.Moreover the SOC for this set is a MediaTek MT6750 chipset. The processor used is Octa-Core Cortex-A53 (4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.0 GHz Cortex-A53). Talking about the GPU we have Mali-T860 MP2. For the memory, M2 Lite has 4GB Ram and 32GB of storage.
Moving towards the camera we have 13MP of rear camera with aperture f/2.2 and also with the PDAF feature and led flash. On the other hand, we have a 16MP selfie camera with the aperture f/2.0.
We, also have the feature of a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. The fingerprint scanner is also present at the front side.
For day-to-day performance, it has a non-removable Li-Po 3000mah battery. And also, consists of a fast-charging facility.
The price for the Nubia M2 Lite is NRP 19,999 only.
Let’s start with the built quality and display of Nubia N2. It has a sleek metal body with 5.5inches Amoled Screen with 720 X 1280 resolution (~267 PPI density). Likewise, there is Nubia UI 4.0 for its UI/UX.
Moving towards its processor Nubia N2 consists of MediaTek MT6750 SOC. It has an Octa-Core CPU (4 X1.5GHz Cortex A-53 and 4 X 1.0 GHz Cortex A-53). For GPU purpose it has Mali-T860MP2. For memory criteria, Nubia N2 incorporates a 4GB RAM with the 64 GB storage. The OS used that comes with it is Marshmallow 6.0.
Likewise, for the camera feature; there is a 13MP of rear camera with f/2.2 aperture with PDAF and LED flash. And for the selfie camera, we have a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture.
For security purposes, N2 is also equipped with a fingerprint scanner at the front. Likewise, for the long-lasting performance, it incorporates a non-removable Li-Po 5000mah battery. On the other hand, N2 also has a fast-charging facility for the batteries. It also consists of a USB-TYPE-C1.0 reversible connector for connectivity.

Z17 MINI and Z17 miniS:
This is the Z- series from the Nubia smartphones. Z17 MINI was released earlier than Z17MINI-S but both devices were launched in the year 2017. Now, talking about its built quality and display both have front-back glass and are enclosed in the metal frame. Both have an IPS LCD display of 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels. Corning Gorilla Glass protection is present in both of the smartphones but the UI/UX for Z17MINI is Nubia UI 4.0 and Nubia UI 5.0 for Z17 MINI-S.
Since Z17MINI was launched earlier than MINI-S the SOC for MINI-S is a bit latest compared to MINI. The Z17 MINI has Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 as its SOC whereas the Z17 MiNI-S has Snapdragon 653 as its SOC. The difference between Snapdragon 652 and 653 are in cellular modem and CPU clock speed. Like other aspects, the GPU for both of these devices is the same which is ADRENO 510. The OS in Z17MINI and Z7-MINI-S is Android 6.0.1 and Android 7.1 respectively.
For the memory criteria, the Z17 MINI comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage whereas the Z17-MINI-S comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
Talking about the cameras in both of these have a dual rear camera of 13MP along with f/2.3 aperture and LED Flash. On the front, Z17 MINI-S features a dual front-facing camera (16MP of f/2.0 aperture and 5MP of f/2.2 aperture), whereas Z17 Mini has only a single front-facing camera (16MP with f/2.0 aperture).
The fingerprint scanner facility is also available in both the devices at the rear position. The USB TYPE- C 1.0 reversible connectors are present in both of these devices.
But for the battery capacity, the Z17 MINI lacks a bit behind as it only has non-removable Li-Po 2950 mah battery, Whereas the Z17 MINI – S packs non-removable Li-Po 3200 mah battery. And both of these smartphones come with fast charging facility.
The price for Z17 MINI and Z17 MINI-S is NRP 28,999 and NRP 37,499 respectively.
