Oppo and Vivo are known for their aggressive marketing strategies and their Selfie centric Smartphones.
This time is no different Oppo and Vivo have launched their respective selfie-centric Budget Smartphones: Oppo F7 and Vivo V9. And in this article, we are going to see what are the differences between these two devices.
From the front, both phones look similar to a notch in their display and similar screen size. They have a slight difference in their weight, Oppo F7 being the heavier because of its slightly larger battery compared to the Vivo V9. The rear end of Oppo houses a single camera whereas Vivo V9 sports a dual-camera setup both with fingerprint sensors. The back panel on both devices is made out of plastic but Oppo F7 feels a lot premium compared to Vivo V9.
It’s “NOTCH TIME” for smartphone manufacturers and Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 have lived up to the same. Both these devices have a 19:9 aspect ratio and similar screen sizes 6.23 and 6.3 inches respectively.
They have a Pixel density of 405ppi and 400ppi respectively and resolution of 2280×1080 on both.
Oppo F7 is powered by the latest Helio P60 SoC, which is actually a premium CPU from MediaTek. Whereas Vivo V9 is powered by Snapdragon 626 SoC with almost 2 years old mid-range chipset from Qualcomm. Besides the age differences, Helio P60 is a 12nm chip whereas Snapdragon 626 is a 14nm chip. What this means is, Helio P60 consumes less power and makes it more power-efficient compared to Snapdragon 626.
Also, Helio P60 comes with powerful 4xCortex A73 cores whereas Snapdragon 626 comes with only Cortex A53 cores which is less powerful compared to Cortex A73. MediaTek has also integrated dedicated hardware for AI on Helio P60 whereas Snapdragon 626 does not come with a dedicated AI module inside CPU. Both devices have 4GB of RAM but Oppo F7 has DDR4X RAM whereas vivo V9 has DDR3 RAM, which should make Oppo F7 a good multitasker compared to vivo V9.
On the storage side, Oppo F7 comes with 64GB and 128GB ROM option whereas as vivo V9 comes with only 64GB ROM option but both devices come with dedicated microSD card slot so expanding storage won’t be a problem on both.
Battery wise, Oppo F7 has a slightly bigger battery,3400mAh compared to Vivo V9’s 3260 mAh. Oppo can also take advantage of its newer processor in this department and gives the device better battery life as compared to Vivo V9.
This is Oppo and Vivo’s primary selling point. They market their selfie camera to get better traction. Oppo F7 sports a 25MP front camera wherein Vivo V9 has 24MP. Both of them has an F2.0 aperture and AI-assisted beautifying capabilities. These phones have also introduced a fun feature called AI stickers which are similar to Snapchat filters.
The main difference is here in the rear camera. Oppo F7 has a single 16MP f1.8 aperture camera setup whereas Vivo V9 has a dual 16MP + 5MP f2.0 aperture dual camera setup. Oppo F7 only supports 1080p video recording whereas vivo V9 has 4k recording capability. Vivo has an advantage in this rear camera department.
Overall: Oppo and Vivo have their own interface that runs over default android. Oppo is available in Diamond Black, Moonlight Silver, Solar Red whereas Vivo has Pearl Black, Gold color variants. On the Performance side, Oppo F7 seems to outclass vivo V9, Design wise both are similar but Oppo F7 comes with more attractive color options and Camera-wise vivo V9 seems to have little overedge on Oppo F7 here. The prices of both phones are similar so that won’t be a deal-breaker.
