Xiaomi is known for its great features packed phones. It has established itself as one of the top smartphone vendors in the market. Providing the best products at low costs, it deeply rooted itself in Nepal’s smartphone market. Xiaomi announced the launch of its sub-brand (sister brand) POCO quiet back and it recently unveiled its first smartphone POCOPHONE F1.
Termed as “The OnePlus killer” by the Unbox Therapy, it can easily give competition to many flagship devices as it has various features that are hard to find in phones with higher price tags. The smartphone is going to be released in 61 markets globally including Nepal for the first time. Here’s an image containing the full list:
POCOPHONE F1 aims to provide specifications and features like high-end devices with the pricing of mid-range ones. Powered by the mighty Snapdragon-845 chipset, it is the cheapest phone to have it. Following the latest smartphones trend, it comes with a notch, within which the infrared cameras and illuminator are beautifully designed.
The device comes with 6/8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64/128/256 GB internal storage, so you can choose your most suitable variant. The top-notch specifications of the device can be highlighted as:
Operating System: Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9.6 (Poco customized)
Chipset: Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 chipset with liquid cooling technology.
With more than 82% usable surface, the device is frameless. The phone is available in 3 colors. i.e Black, Blue, and Red. A standard armored edition is also available with nice texture and no glossy finishes, which helps in the better grip but the polycarbonate back finish doesn’t feel much premium as Mi 8 or OnePlus 6. It has a rear fingerprint scanner that has been suitably placed under two rear cameras.
Dual Sim ( Nano + Micro) can be used but one has to remove the second sim card in order to insert an external memory card. It comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Type-C USB, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual Band WIFI, and many more. It lacks wireless charging which is now considered an important feature of flagships and there is no short of IP rating as well. But it is unfair to ask all the premium features on a smartphone that cost only a half or even less than the other flagship smartphones out there.
The release date of the Pocophone f1 has not been announced yet but it might be available sometime in September here in Nepal. Here are the global prices of Pocophone F1:
But looking at the previous pricing record of Xiaomi smartphones in Nepal, it may be expensive compared with the global market. This phone is aimed at those who want the best performing phone in the mid-range budget. But looking at the unbelievable features and price, it is turning out to be a must-buy device.
So the question arises, will this phone sweep the other flagships out of the market? Or will it underperform? We will need to wait for the official release to answer these questions.
