Realme launched as Online only sub-brand of Oppo in May of 2018 has now emerged to be among the top 5 smartphone brands in India in terms of sales. India is the second-largest smartphone market ahead of the US and just behind China and Realme holds around 8% of Indian Market and it is a big thing for a company who completed its second year anniversary just a few days ago.

The company was eagerly waiting for launching its new Narzo series since the end of March but the COVID-19 outbreak postponed the launch for more than twice. Finally today the company unveiled its two new devices under Narzo series. They are Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A.

What’s New about Narzo?

While the company says Narzo will be its complete series with a budget and flagship smartphones. The devices are customized for the new tech-savvy generation. The company also stated in its launch event that the Narzo will deliver a powerful series with max performance in its price segment.

Narzo 10A is the budget option between the two devices. It is an entry-level smartphone with various corners cut.

  • Design & Display: Narzo 10A comes with a mediocre 6.5inch IPS HD+ display with a drop notch at the top. The back device has a matte plastic design that houses a triple rear camera and a physical fingerprint scanner with a huge realme branding. The device is stated to be splash resistance and has a Triple slot for Dual SIM and micro SD support.

  • Camera: Now let’s talk about those triple rear cameras at the back. The device has a 12 MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF. The other two sensors are Portrait Lens (Depth sensor) and Macro Lense, both of which resolutions are not declared at the launch. These cameras support features such as Ultra macro mode, Portrait mode, Chroma boost, and slo-mo video at 120fps. While at the front devices houses 5MP shooter with support for portrait, HDR, and Panorama selfie.

  • Power and Performance: The device is powered with mediocre Mediatek Helio G70 Soc, With 2 powerful A75 cores and 6 power-efficient A55 cores. The GPU front is handled by Mali G52. Narzo 10A has an Antutu score of 192,973, which is higher compared to Redmi Note 8.  It also supports HD graphics with High frame (30fps) settings in PUBG mobile game. All this is run by a 5000mah battery which only supports 10w of charging from its micro USB port. The company also claimed you can play PUBG mobile game for more than 10 hours, which is quite promising.

  • Software: The device will run the realme UI on top of the latest Android 10 out of the box.

  • Pricing and Availability: The device is available only in one configuration of 3GB ram and 32GB ROM with two color options, So White and So blue. The device is launched at Rs.8,499 Indian Rupees (~NPR 13,600) and will be available for purchase at realme.com and Flipkart at 12:00 PM on the 18th of May.

Narzo 10

Now let’s talk about the higher variant. Narzo 10 is around ₹3,500 more expensive than the 10A. While it packs some decent specs, will it be able to give a tough competition to the Redmi Note 8 as they fall under the same price category? Let’s see.

  • Design & Display: Narzo 10 has got some eye-catching design at the back. Though its the same matt plastic. The front device comes with a 6.5inch HD+ drop notch display. HD+ display even at this price point is a bummer. Realme also didn’t state anything about the display protection at the launch. While the back of the device comes with a quad-camera set-up and a physical fingerprint scanner.

  • Camera: Here we can see some upgrades than the Narzo 10A. The device comes with a primary 48MP camera with f/1.8 aperture. Don’t know which sensor cause the company didn’t state at their launch and even not mentioned on their website. The next one is an 8MP Ultra Wide lens with f/2.3 aperture and 119° of field view. The next two are kind of gimmick with 2MP macro and B&W Portrait Lens. It supports video recording up to 1080P at 30 fps. While at the front it comes with a 16MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture.

  • Power & Performance: It is the first device in India to launch with a brand new octa-core  Helio G80 SoC. It has 2 powerful A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and 6 low power A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Here the GPU is handled by Mali-G52. The device came up with the Antutu Score of 201,278. All this is run by a 5000mAh battery which supports 18watt quick charging. The 18watt quick charger and a type C cable are available in the box.

  • Software: The device will run the realme UI on top of the latest Android 10 out of the box.

  • Pricing & Availability: The device is available in one configuration that is 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. You can pick the device in two different colors, That white and That green. The device will cost you 11,999 Indian Rupees (~NPR 19,198). The device will go on its first sale on the 22nd of May at realme.com and Flipkart.

Realme has again heated the budget smartphone market in India with its new Narzo series. Let’s see how India’s No. 1 smartphone brand, Xiaomi is going to respond to this. There are already leaks about Redmi 9 floating around the internet. We hope Xiaomi will launch it soon at competitive pricing.
