Design:

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a premium design. The device comes with a sleek glass sandwich body and full-view display with a notch on top which gives it a premium look. On the other hand, the Galaxy A51 comes with a punch-hole Super AMOLED display upfront but a plastic back left much to be desired on the device. However, both the devices feature a plastic frame. Overall, the Redmi Note 8 Pro takes an edge here.

Display:

Speaking of the display, the Galaxy A51 comes with 6.5 inches Super AMOLED display upfront with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels(~405 PPI density) and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is not behind here as well with its 6.53 inches IPS LCD display at a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (~395 PPI density) and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is also to be noted that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is rated HDR-capable with a peak brightness of 500 nits whereas there is no such info for the Galaxy A51. So, even taking into account the Super AMOLED display of Galaxy A51, the Redmi Note 8 Pro should be on par if not better when comparing the displays.

Camera:

Taking a look at the cameras, the Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 64MP f/1.9 primary camera coupled with 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro cameras while the Galaxy A51 comes with a 48MP f/2.0 main camera coupled 12MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro cameras. So, the primary camera of the Note 8 Pro is better on paper but the Galaxy A51 fights back with its better ultrawide and macro cameras. On the front, the Note 8 Pro has a 20MP f/2.0 shooter whereas the Galaxy A51 has a 32Mp f/2.2 shooter. Depending on the situation both the selfie cameras are good to go. So, optics wise, both the devices stand on equal ground.

Specs and Software:

On the inside, the Note 8 Pro packs MediaTek Helio G90T Octa-core (2×2.05 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU  and a powerful Mali-G76 MC4 GPU which gives a very good performance. On the memory side, the device is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

Compared to this, the Galaxy A51 packs Exynos 9611, CPU: Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and a respectable Mali-G72 MP3 GPU coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.0 storage. So specs-wise, the Note 8 Pro blows away the Galaxy A51 hands down. Compared to Galaxy A51, the Note 8 Pro packs much powerful hardware from better CPU, GPU and more RAM to a faster UFS 2.1 storage.

For unlocking the device, Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a capacitive fingerprint scanner whereas Galaxy A51 comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner. Now under-display fingerprint scanner might seem futuristic but it is not reliable and quick as the normal capacitive fingerprint scanners.

The battery on Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with 4500mAh capacity with 18W fast charging support. Whereas, on Galaxy A51, it has a 4000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.

Speaking of the software, the Galaxy A51 runs on Android 10.0 with One UI 2.0 on top of it. On the other hand, the Note 8 Pro runs on Android 9.0 out of the box but Android v10.0 has been started rolling out for Redmi Note 8 Pro users. So, software-wise, both the devices are comparable.

Price:

Taking a look at the pricing, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will set you back at Rs. 32,999/- for the maxed-out 8GB+128GB variant whereas the Galaxy A51 will cost you Rs. 38,399/- for the 6GB+128GB variant. So, there is no comparison in pricing as the Galaxy A51 doesn’t even come near to contending with Note 8 Pro in terms of bang-for-the-buck device.

All-in-all the Redmi Note 8 Pro is a more powerful device than the Galaxy A51, the only area where A51 seems to compete with Note 8 Pro is the cameras. But when we take the price of the devices into account, the Galaxy A51 is blown away by Note 8 Pro. Overall, the Note 8 Pro is the winner in every respect.
