So why not compare Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 series with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which we have listed as “Best Smartphone under 25k” on our website.

Samsung Mobile Nepal sold last year’s Samsung Galaxy J7 tremendously in Nepal because Samsung didn’t have much competition in the Nepal market at that time. Also, the pricing of last year’s Samsung Galaxy J7 was very reasonable for everyone to buy it. But this year we have two big players Huawei and Xiaomi in Nepal who are offering smartphones with great specifications at very reasonable prices. And today I’m going to compare Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 based on their specifications.

Design and build quality: In terms of design, it depends on peoples’ perspectives. Some might like Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition design and some might like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 design. So I’ll leave on you guys to choose which one has a better design. Now when it comes to built quality, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition comes with a metal frame and removable plastic back cover, whereas Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a full metal body. Both come with the excellent build quality, but if you like more metal on your smartphone, then you are going to love Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

Screen: This is one of the few areas where we find differences on both devices. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition comes with 5.5 inches SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 1280x720pixels which means excellent viewing angles and vibrant colors, but with the only 267ppi, you will notice some pixels on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a 5.5inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Display of the Redmi Note 3 is very sharp as it comes with a total 401ppi whereas viewing angles and color saturation are excellent too.

Performance: Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are using a different chipset on both devices. Samsung is using its own chipset Exynos 7870 which comes with 8 cores Cortex-A53 CPU all clocked at 1.6GHz. Whereas on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, which has total 6 cores, 4 cores Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.4GHz whereas other 2 cores Cortex-A72 clocked at 1.8GHz. Now in terms of GPU performance, Mali GPU is always one step behind compared to Adreno GPU. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition is using Mali-T830 GPU whereas, on Redmi Note 3, Adreno 530 GPU is used. So if you are a heavy mobile gamer then I’ll suggest you go with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 as Adreno GPU offers better performance than Mali GPU.

Camera: Now we don’t have any detailed information about the image sensor used on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition. On paper rear camera specs of Galaxy J7 2016 edition looked identical to last year Galaxy J7, 13MP with f1.9 aperture, autofocus and single LED flash. On Redmi Note 3, we have a 16MP rear camera with f2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and Dual-tone LED flash. We have already seen the camera sample of Redmi Note 3 which was very impressive at daylight conditions but failed to impress us on low-light.

Battery life: I was blown away with the battery life on Redmi Note 3 during my review phase. Redmi Note 3 comes with a big 4050mAh non-removable battery that can easily give 5-6hours of the screen on time. Whereas Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition comes with a 3300mAh removable battery, but we don’t have any data regarding its battery life. Looking at its screen resolution, battery capacity and CPU architecture, the battery life on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition should be good.

Few things to know:

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition does not have an auto-brightness sensor, Gyroscope sensor and fingerprint sensor which can be found easily on a mid-range smartphone these days. However, it does come with two SIM card slots and an extra MicroSD card slot. On Redmi Note 3, we only get two slots, on which you can two SIM cards or one SIM card and MicroSD card. You cannot use two SIM card and MicroSD card at the same time on Redmi Note 3. So if you are a Dual-SIM user, storage can be a problem on Redmi Note 3, if you download a lot of heavy file games. Redmi Note 3 comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back, which is quite fast and accurate whereas you won’t find a fingerprint sensor on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition. Also, Redmi Note 3 comes with a quick charge technology to charge battery fast.

Price: Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition is launched in Nepal at Rs.27990.  On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is available for Rs.24999 in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition is the best mid-range smartphone from Samsung that comes with a metal body, capable processor, good camera and a big removable battery. Also, Samsung Mobile Nepal offers the best after-sales services in Nepal compared to other mobile companies. With Xiaomi offering Redmi Note 3 with killer specs under 25k in Nepal it can be a tough decision for most people to choose between Redmi Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy J7 2016.
