Samsung Mobile Nepal sold last year’s Samsung Galaxy J7 tremendously in Nepal because Samsung didn’t have much competition in the Nepal market at that time. Design and build quality: In terms of design, it depends on peoples’ perspectives. Some might like Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition design and some might like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 design. So I’ll leave on you guys to choose which one has a better design. Now when it comes to built quality, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition comes with a metal frame and removable plastic back cover, whereas Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a full metal body. Both come with the excellent build quality, but if you like more metal on your smartphone, then you are going to love Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
Screen: This is one of the few areas where we find differences on both devices. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition comes with 5.5 inches SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 1280x720pixels which means excellent viewing angles and vibrant colors, but with the only 267ppi, you will notice some pixels on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a 5.5inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Display of the Redmi Note 3 is very sharp as it comes with a total 401ppi whereas viewing angles and color saturation are excellent too.
Performance: Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are using a different chipset on both devices. Samsung is using its own chipset Exynos 7870 which comes with 8 cores Cortex-A53 CPU all clocked at 1.6GHz. Whereas on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, which has total 6 cores, 4 cores Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.4GHz whereas other 2 cores Cortex-A72 clocked at 1.8GHz. Now in terms of GPU performance, Mali GPU is always one step behind compared to Adreno GPU. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition is using Mali-T830 GPU whereas, on Redmi Note 3, Adreno 530 GPU is used. So if you are a heavy mobile gamer then I’ll suggest you go with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 as Adreno GPU offers better performance than Mali GPU.
Camera: Now we don’t have any detailed information about the image sensor used on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition. On paper rear camera specs of Galaxy J7 2016 edition looked identical to last year Galaxy J7, 13MP with f1.9 aperture, autofocus and single LED flash. On Redmi Note 3, we have a 16MP rear camera with f2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and Dual-tone LED flash. We have already seen the camera sample of Redmi Note 3 which was very impressive at daylight conditions but failed to impress us on low-light.
Battery life: I was blown away with the battery life on Redmi Note 3 during my review phase. Redmi Note 3 comes with a big 4050mAh non-removable battery that can easily give 5-6hours of the screen on time. Whereas Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition comes with a 3300mAh removable battery, but we don’t have any data regarding its battery life. Looking at its screen resolution, battery capacity and CPU architecture, the battery life on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition should be good.
