Vivo and Samsung have recently launched smartphones with a similar price range and with almost similar specs. Vivo V9 Youth and Samsung Galaxy J7 duo are the latest entry in the Nepalese Mobile phone market. Let’s compare the specs and see how good are they for their mid-range price.
Display: Talking about display first, Samsung goes with its Super AMOLED display with an old 16:9 ratio whereas vivo V9 Youth has an IPS LCD panel with a modern 19:9 ratio. But when it comes to size vivo V9 youth has a larger 6.3-inch display, with the notch of course, compared to J7 duo’s 5.5-inch screen. Well, the display resolution is a slight put off in case of Samsung as it has an HD display with a pixel density of ~267ppi whereas vivo V9 Youth has a Full HD+ display with a pixel density of ~ 400ppi. V9 youth also comes with Gorilla Glass 3 for you to feel slightly safer when it slips off.
Processing: When it comes to performance, the Galaxy J7 duo comes with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7885 octa-core processor, which is more powerful than vivo V9 youth’s Snapdragon 450. Exynos 7885 is an Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A73 & 6×1.6 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU whereas Snapdragon 450 is Octa-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 with Mali-G71 and Adreno 506 respectively. Samsung Galaxy J7 duo clearly beats vivo V9 youth in this area.
Memory and Battery: Both are similar when it comes to memory as they pack 4 gigs of RAM and 32 GB of inbuilt storage. Both devices come with a dedicated microSD card slot too to expand storage. The battery capacity of vivo V9 youth is slightly bigger 3260mAh compared to 3000mAh in the Galaxy J7 duo. But vivo V9 Youth comes with a larger display and more resolutions compared to Galaxy J7 duo, which can affect battery life significantly.
Camera: The camera wars are very exciting nowadays. Vivo always mentions it as a camera-centric phone and Samsung is always good at its camera quality and low light performance. Talking about the camera in these phones: Both of them have a dual-camera setup on the rear side. vivo V9 Youth has a Dual: 16 MP + 2 MP, dual-LED flash whereas Galaxy J7 duo packs Dual: 13 MP (f/1.9) + 5 MP (f/1.9) camera.
Both are capable of 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second.
On the front, Galaxy J7 duo has an 8MP camera with f/1.9 aperture and a LED flash for your craving of Night selfies whereas vivo V9 youth has a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. Conclusion: If you want a powerful phone and display is not your concern then Galaxy J7 duo is your phone otherwise a person who happens to be a camera buff and loves modern 19:9 ratio display can go for v9 youth. It would have been good if Samsung gave us a better display than this. Nevertheless, if you love the brand and want a Samsung made dual camera phone at mid-range then it’s the only choice you got in the market.
