[dropcap]X[/dropcap]iaomi has unveiled Mi MAX 2 in China, which is the predecessor of last year Mi Max. This year Mi Max 2 comes with a full metal unibody design with rounded edges to improve one-handed use. On the display side, there is nothing changed, Mi Max 2 has same 6.44inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution as last year. Surprisingly, Xiaomi has decided to stick with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which is not a bad processor but we were hoping for Snapdragon 660.
Let’s talk what has been improved on Mi Max 2 compared to last year Mi Max. Mi Max 2 now has a 12MP rear camera with Sony IMX386 image sensor (Mi 6 has the same image sensor) and large 1.25μm pixels, which should definitely improve image quality compared to last year model. We are also now getting stereo speakers, now we are not getting front firing stereo speakers. But instead, the earpiece and bottom speaker will work together for creating stereo sounds. Another improvement on Mi Max 2 over last year Mi Max is the battery. This year Mi Max 2 comes with massive 5300mAh battery and Quick Charge 3.0. With 14nm power efficient processor and 5300mAh battery, Mi Max 2 can give up to 18hrs of video playback, 9hrs of gaming and 57hrs of talk time.
Other feature includes a fingerprint sensor, IR blaster, 4G LTE connection and Dual-SIM (Hybrid). Mi Max 2 is priced at RMB 1699 (~NPR 25,566) for 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant and RMB 1999 (~NPR 30,080) for 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant. As of now Mi Max 2 will be available only in China, there is no news if it is going to launch in Nepal or not.
