Xiaomi To launch Redmi 5 & Redmi 5 Plus with 18:9 Display on December 7th
With every smartphone brands getting into the game of Bigger display without increasing the size of a smartphone, Xiaomi is not planning on falling behind as well. Xiaomi has already launched Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2 with bezel-less design and now the company is bringing it to its budget devices as well. Xiaomi is already planning launch event in China on December 7th to release Redmi 5 & Redmi 5 prime with 18:9 Display.
Looking at the renders leaked by a Chinese telecom regulator. The device has a single camera and fingerprint sensor at the rear. The design looks similar to the Redmi Note 4 while at the front, it is featured by big 18:9 display with soft selfie flash similar to Redmi Note 5a Prime design.
The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a 5.7-inch display with HD+ resolution. This means a resolution of 1440×720 pixels. On the internal part the redmi 5 is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core processor so this could be Snapdragon 450 or 435. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back and features an unibody metal design. The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a 12-megapixel sensor at the back, while on the front the phone will come with a 5-megapixel camera setup. The Redmi 5 is expected to be backed by a 3,300 mAh battery. Available variants are 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. On the software part It may run on Android Nougat 7 with Miui 9.
Redmi 5 Plus
Redmi 5 Plus is a higher version of Redmi 5. The design is similar, what differs is the internals. The Redmi 5 Plus has quite the upgrade from Redmi 4 SD 435. It is powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC and available in 4/64 GB variant only. On battery part, it is supported by 4000mAh. According to the assumption, there are chances of Plus version supporting the 5.9-inch display and dual camera but this could also be for Redmi Note 5. If not this will have the display and camera same as Redmi 5. Even in Software, it may be same with android Nougat 7 and Miui 9.
Considering the price, these are the budget smartphones so their expected price might be around CNY 1,399 (~ NPR 21822). The actual price is to be revealed on the launch day. Meanwhile, Xiaomi India is planning to release new series on November 30 (tomorrow) and calls “Desh Ka Smartphone”. We don’t have much detail about this phone currently.
