Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 – Pre-orders starting from the First week of September

Samsung brings their product ASAP when they are launched globally and the scene is similar with the foldable too. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the recently launched flagship from the brand along with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, it brings new upgrades like an IPX8 rating, dual 120Hz panel, under-display camera, and much more. Let’s have a brief look into the device along with its expected price in Nepal.

Design & Display

Looking up at the front we are treated by a 6.2 inches Dynamic AMOLED display with the resolution of 832 x 2268 pixels and it’s a 120Hz panel. Unfolding the device you are treated with a 7.6 inches Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate and with support for HDR10+ along with a max brightness of 1200nits. Along with all this, we get an upgraded hinge, and also an IP rating. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with an IPX8 rating, so the device is waterproof, though the dustproof rating is missing here.  We also get support for S-pen, which are particularly design for the folds. 

Camera

Apart from the looks, we get three different camera setups on the Z Fold 3. At the cover display, we get a 10 MP, f/2.2 selfie shooter inside a punch hole, which can capture 4K@30fps. While inside we get a 4MP f/1.8 Under display selfie camera, making this the first Samsung device to feature an under-display camera. While at the rear, we are treated with a Triple Camera setup which packs, 12MP f/1.8 primary camera with Dual Pixel PDAF and OIS, along with that we get a 12MP f/2.4 Telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom, OIS, and Dual Pixel PDAF. While the last one is yet another 12MP f/2.2 shooter for ultra-wide images. With this setup the Z Fold 3 can shoot 4K video upto 60fps from its rear camera. 

Performance & Software

As it’s a Samsung flagship there’s no compromisation with the performance. We get top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC with Adreno 660 GPU.  It’s the flagship SoC from Samsung and along with this, we get UFS 3.1 storage, 12GB RAM along 256GB or 512GB internal storage. So, performance won’t be a problem with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. 

For the Software, we get Android 11 with Samsung’s own One Ui 3.1.1 on top. This software is much more policed than the previous versions and packs a lot of features, specially targeted to the Fold user. 

Battery and Features

For the battery we get a 4400mAh battery on the Z Fold 3 with support for 25W fast charging, 11W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging to charge Qi enable wireless charging devices like Smartwatch and earbuds. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 also supports Wifi 6e, Bluetooth 5.2 along with USB 3.2 Type C port.

Talking about the price and availability, we have not got any official information regarding the price, whereas the pre-booking is starting from the first week of  September across Samsung stores throughout the country. Whereas according to us the expected price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 in Nepal is Rs. 2,30,000 for 12GB/256GB while the higher 12GB/512GB is expected to be Rs.2,50,000.
