Samsung 10 Years milestone with Unpacked Event: S10, S10 Plus, S10e, Fold, and More Launched
Samsung Launched its new generation flagship, new foldable phone and some cool gadgets at the unpacked event. Celebrating ten years of galaxy lineup Live from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, Samsung is getting ready for future. Samsung states “We didn’t just change the shape of the phone. We changed the shape of tomorrow,” during the event. Samsung Started the unfolding of Event With Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Samsung Galaxy Fold
Justin Denison, SVP of product marketing came up the stage and introduced the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The device holds a 4.6-inch front display while being folded. When unfolded it unveils a massive 7.3-inch “infinity flex” display. Multiple interlocking gears support the folding mechanism and Samsung claimed the screen should hold up to foldings “hundreds of thousands of times.” The device comes in four different colours “cosmos black,” “space silver,” “Martian green,” or Astro blue.” Samsung does provide the personalisation of the hinge colour.
Samsung did place six cameras around the Galaxy Fold. Three in the back, two on the inside and one on the cover. These are the similar ones to S10 + camera sensors. There’s a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera, alongside 12-megapixel wide-angle and telephoto cameras at the rear, and a 10-megapixel cover camera for selfies. And two 10-megapixel+ 8-megapixel 3D depth sensor inside (Tablet mode).
Samsung included a Snapdragon 855 soc for power users with the support of 512GB of Universal Flash Storage 3.0 (eUFS) for fast speeds read/write and12GB of RAM. Samsung made sure the batteries wouldn’t fold ( since that didn’t go well with note 9). Samsung has built two batteries at each side for its Galaxy Fold, combined in the operating system to form a total of 4,380 mAh battery.
The Samsung Fold comes with Samsung new One UI wireless charging power button fingerprint sensor. There also exists a 5G model. Samsung did make it clear it’s not for everyone. It’s a premium device at a premium price and costs $1,980 ~ Nrs 225,244.
Samsung Electronics CEO DJ Koh did come on stage and sow case a Samsung galaxy fold he also made a bold statement:
“For those who say, ‘Everything possible has already been done,’ I say open your mind, and get ready for the dawn of a new mobile era,
Buckle your seatbelt. The future is about to begin.”
Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus
Suzanne De Silva, director of product marketing, got on the stage and introduced Samsung Galaxy S10. The Samsung S10 comes with best in the market Display. With the form factor of 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch screens on S10 and S10+, respectively. The displays on both models are identical: 1440 x 3040-pixel resolution 19:9 AMOLED panel with HDR10+ certification. Samsung Has ignored the notch on its flagship lineup and continuing that Samsung introduces infinity O display to the S10 lineup. The cameras have their respective holes while other sensors hide under the screen. Samsung Even introduced the under display Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
The Samsung S10 Plus has a wider hole which holds 10 megapixels, with an f/1.9 aperture lens and a second 8-megapixel depth-sensing camera. While on a regular S10 only 10 megapixels camera exists, making the display hole smaller. The S10 and S10 Plus both have the same rear camera setup. Two 12-megapixel sensors and optically stabilized lenses. An f/2.4 aperture for telephoto, while the same aperture-switching as of the previous s9, it changes between f/1.5 and f/2.4. The 16-megapixel new ultra wide camera offers a 123-degree field of view.
Both of the devices have the same processor inside, Snapdragon 855 processor or Exynos 9820 (Region based). A 128/512 GB option is available for both of the devices along with 8 GB RAM. But an S10 Plus 1TB version with 12GB RAM does exist if you prefer that. The Samsung Galaxy S10 features a 3,400mAh cell and the S10 Plus features a massive 4,100mAh battery. Both of these Models supports Wireless charging and Wireless Power share (reverse charging) to charge other phone or Gadgets.
They also include IP68 water and dust resistance, 3.5mm headphone jacks, and support for Wi-Fi 6 (new standard), Bluetooth 5 but sadly not 5G. A different 5G model will be available with an additional feature in the future with added features as well. It still has a Bixby button. Samsung says it is developing some new things for Bixby, also the Bixby button is now remappable, yay.
Samsung Galaxy S10E
Launched altogether with S10 and S10 Plus, S10E is a lower cost smaller smartphone which cut off feature to cut off the price. Available for Just less than $150 of S10 costing $750 only. The device a screen size of 5.8-inch with Full HD+ resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio and infinity O design. The device also supports HDR10+. The tradeoff includes removing curve display on the sides. No ultrasonic under display fingerprint sensor, a slightly smaller battery and Only two cameras in the rear. The Galaxy S10E does get a fingerprint reader in the power button in the side.
The camera consists of 12MP wide and 16MP ultra wide same as s10 and s10 Plus but no telephoto lens. On the performance side, there is not much difference. There device houses same Exynos 9820 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with 256 GB, 8 GB RAM or 128 GB, 6 GB RAM option. The battery capacity is a little less at 3,100 mAh.
With Samsung Galaxy S10E ($750), The Galaxy S10 ($900) and The Galaxy S10 Plus ($1,000) the customer does have a lot of choices but will have difficulty to make decisions. This was not all in The event Samsung Did launch new Wireless Earbuds and Galaxy Watch Active along with Galaxy Fit.
Now regarding Its ability in Nepal. There is a high chance of Samsung launching S10 Lineup with Wireless earbuds and Galaxy watch in March. But when it comes to Galaxy Fold and 5G S10 and S10 Plus 1Tb variant let’s not have our hopes up and it won’t be a surprise if they didn’t launch it.
