Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 launched in Nepal with Dual 120Hz Display, Under display camera, IPX8 rating, and much more
Samsung has just wrapped up their launch event in Nepal of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and other devices, and we got to see some interesting devices along with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Watch Series 4, and Galaxy Buds 2. Among them, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 was the attention seeker. Let’s have a close look at what it has to offer and its official Nepali pricing as it has been launched officially in Nepal today.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 – Overview
The new foldable has a similar design but with a redesigned Camera hump at the back and an under-display camera when unfolded. Talking about the bigger display we have, 7.6-inch 1768×2208 pixels, Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and 1200 nits of maximum brightness. The cover has a 6.2-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Unlike last year, this time we have 120Hz on both the cover display and the inside display.
Along with that we also get a Stereo speaker setup and IPX8 rating on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Making this the only foldable device with an IP rating.
Talking about the optics, we have three different camera setups on the Z Fold 3. At the rear, we get a Triple Camera setup with a 12 MP f/1.8 main sensor with support for Dual Pixel PDAF and OIS. Along with that, we have a 12MP f/2.4, 2X telephoto lens, which also has Dual Pixel PDAF and OIS. While the last one being, yet another 12MP f/2.3 Ultra-wide angle lens with a 123° field of view. With this setup, you can shoot 4K videos at 30fps while the 1080P can go up to 240fps.
Now, on the outer cover, we get a 16MP f/1.8 selfie shooter, which can record 4K videos up to 30fps. Whereas when unfolded we are treated by an invisible under-display camera. It is a 16MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Looking at the initial samples from the YouTubers the quality is not so great but, as it’s a new technology we might see some improvements in the coming years.
After the optics talking about the performance, there are no shortcomings when it comes to performance with the Z Fold 3. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM along with 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. Along with the Snapdragon 888 SoC and optimization of One UI 3.5, it enables Z Fold 3 to perform multitasking with ease. Let it be using 2-3 apps in a multi-window mode or accessing Dex Mode, Z Fold 3 can do all these tasks without any hiccups.
Yet another highlight of this year’s Z Fold 3 is support for S Pen. We get the S Pen Fold edition which will work only with the Fold 3 whereas the separately sold S Pen Pro for $100 can be used on both note and fold devices. This is built with a separate mode for the Fold 3, which makes the tip more retractable and suitable for the display of the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
To power all this we get a 4400 mAh cell on the Z Fold 3, which is a bit smaller than last year’s Z Fold 2, which had a 4500 mAh cell. This results in Z Fold 3 being a tad bit thinner and 11gm lighter. For the charging, we get support for 25W wired fast charging and 11W wireless charging with 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
