Unlike the iPhone 11, here on the iPhone 12, we get a 6.1-inch XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels. This is a 60Hz FHD+ display with support for HDR10, and Dolby Vision along with a wide color gamut and true tone. The display can reach upto 1200nits of maximum brightness while viewing the HDR content. Talking more about the design, it’s the same notch at the front but this time we are getting flat edges, which gives a new look to the device. The device is IP68 dust and water resistance.
Performance & Software
This is where the Apple device always shines. The iPhone 12 is powered by the Apple A14 Bionic SoC. This is a 5nm CPU clocked at 2×3.1 GHz Firestorm + 4×1.8 GHz Icestorm Cores. Along with this, we get a 4 core Apple GPU handling the Graphics duties. The device is equipped with 4GB RAM and 64/128/256GB of NVMe storage. On the software side of things, currently, the device is running on iOS 15.5 and might get software updates and security patches upto 2025.
Camera
iPhone 12 features a 12MP f/1.6 main camera that has 27% better light capture than the previous generation. Thus, it can take images in Night Mode with more details. It has Smart HDR 3 which has improved white balance, texture, and saturation. The secondary camera is a 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide sensor. This camera setup can record HDR and Dolby Vision HDR Videos too. While at the front we get a 12MP f/2.2 sensor. The iPhone 12 can capture 4K at 60fps from both its front and rear camera setup.
Battery & Other Features
The iPhone 12 is packed with a 2815 mAh battery and supports upto 20W of fast charging. Though this time the charger is not provided in the box, you only get a Type C to lightning cable. The device also supports mag-safe charging of upto 15W. Talking about other features we get a Stereo Speaker setup, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and 3D Face ID, and also the Ultra-Wideband support.
