Design & Display
Samsung Galaxy A73 has a larger 6.7-inches Super AMOLED display protected with Gorilla Glass 5. While the Xiaomi 12X more compact 6.28- AMOLED Curved display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Xiaomi can go upto 1100 nits of maximum brightness, while Samsung maxes out at 800nits.
Both are FHD+ displays with similar resolutions. While on the design front, Xiaomi goes with a curve form factor while Samsung has a flat profile with a flat edge.
Samsung Galaxy A73 gets a quad-camera setup at the back with a main 108MP f/1.8 camera which is optically stabilized. Along with that, we get a 12 MP f/2.2 Ultra-wide shooter and 5MP for each depth and macro camera. While at the front we get a 32MP f/2.2 shooter. The device can record videos up to 4K@30fps, and 1080p@30/60fps from both front and rear camera setups(No 60fps from the front camera).
On the other hand, Xiaomi 12X has a triple camera where the main camera is 50 MP, f/1.9 aperture that also features OIS. Supporting the main camera, there is a 13 MP, f/2.4 aperture ultrawide camera with an angle view of 123˚. Completing the setup 5MP tele-macro lens. On the front, we have a 32MP f/2.5 lens inside the punch hole. The device can record 8K@24fps, 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/120/240/960fps videos, and from the front, we can capture 1080p@30/60fps and 720p@120fps.
On the performance front, here you either have an option between the Snapdragon 778 SoC and Snapdragon 870 SoC. Samsung Galaxy A73 is powered by Snapdragon 778 5G SoC with8GB RAM. Talking about the SoC, it is a combo of a 6nm Octa-core CPU with 4×2.4 GHz Kryo 670 & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo 670 CPU cores and Adreno 642L GPU along with a triple ISP and a 5G modem (X53).
Whereas the Xiaomi 12X features a Snapdragon 870 5G that is built under 7nm architecture. The 7nm chipset features an octa-core processor with one Kryo 585 clocked at 3.2 GHz, three Kryo 585 clocked at 2.42 GHz, and four Kryo 585 clocked at 1.80 GHz. Likewise, the graphics of the device is handled by Adreno 650. In both of these devices, we get 8GB RAM with 256GB of internal storage.
Here Samsung has a lead with Android 12 with One UI 4.1 out of the box and Samsung has also promised 4 years of Android updates with 5 years of security patches. Whereas, Xiaomi 12X still ships with Android 11 and has MIUI 13 on top. So, the Software on Xiaomi 12X is really a bummer.
Battery & Charging
Here we have a bit smaller battery on the Xiaomi 12X with its 4500mAh cell, Xiaomi 12X supports 67W fast charging and the charger is also provided in the box. Compared with the Samsung Galaxy A73, the Galaxy A73 supports only 25W charging and no charger is provided in the box and has a 5000mAh battery inside.
