The entry-level smartphone segment is getting some attention in Nepal after the launch of devices from brands like Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola. Yesterday, we saw the launch of Samsung M02s from Samsung, a budget offering from the brand and had some decent offerings at the price tag below 16K. The device is priced similar to Moto G8 Power lite. So today, let’s have a specs comparison between these devices along with their pros and cons.

Design and Display
As both Samsung Galaxy M02s and Moto G8 Power lite are the entry-level offerings from both the brands. We get plastic built and a 6.5inch IPS LCD HD+ display on both the devices with a dewdrop notch. At the back, Moto has a fingerprint sensor inside the Motorola logo and has a speaker at the bottom left corner with the vertical camera layout. At the same time, Samsung has a triple camera setup in a square cutout & no fingerprint scanner.
Camera and Software
Samsung Galaxy M02s has a triple camera setup at the back with a 13MP f/2.2 primary lens and AF. Along with that, we have a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor and a 2MP f/2.2 macro lens. While at the front we have a 5MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. On the Moto G8 Power Lite, we have a 16MP f/2.0 Primary Camera, and along with that, we have a 2MP f/2.4 for each Macro and depth sensor. While at the front we have an 8MP f/2.0 shooter. On paper Moto G8 Power lite seams to win the optics battel.
Samsung Galaxy M02s runs on One UI core on top of Android 10. At the same time, Moto G8 Power Lite is running stock Android 9 which is upgradeable to Android 10.
Performance and Battery
For the performance, Samsung has gone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. It is a 14nm, Octa-core CPU with 8 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. While for GPU we have Adreno 506 GPU. WhereasMediatek Helio P35 SoC powers moto G8 Power LiteC. It is a 12nm, Octa-core CPU with 4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. Both the devices have 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage.
For powering all this, we have a 5000mAh battery on both devices. Yet another similarity is, both the devices have a MIcro-USB port for charging. Here Samsung supports 15W fast charging whereas Moto G8 Power Lite only supports 10W charging. So, Samsung has a plus point here with the faster charging.

Samsung Galaxy M02s is priced at Rs.15,999 in Nepal for the 4GB+64GB variant, and Moto G8 Power lite is priced at Rs.15,990 in Nepal for the 4GB+64GB variant. As of now, these are the only variant of both devices available in Nepal.
