From the last year, Samsung has been launching the beefed-up version of their S series flagship, and this year is not any different. Samsung launched three devices in their S21 series, and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is filled up with all the latest and greatest tech from Samsung. Last year we had some camera issues with the S20 Ultra, while this time, Samsung has fixed those issues and brought some great new features to the Ultra. So, let’s see what the phone has to offer and along with the Samsung S21 Ultra price in Nepal.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Overview
Design & Display
Unlike the S21 and S21+, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is filled with all the premiums Samsung offers in its top of the line flagship. Samsung has done something new with the camera hump so, let’s start from there. Instead of hiding or ignoring the camera hump, Samsung has embraced it and made it look like it melts into the frame. Not only that, the back here has a smooth matt finish with the protection of Gorilla Glass Victus.
Also, at the front, we get a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a variable refresh rate, which can switch from 10Hz to 120Hz depending on the content you are viewing. It is a QHD+ display with 515 PPI, HDR10+ certification and can reach up to max brightness of 1500+ nits. While all this has a Gorilla Glass Victus Protection. This is a flat display instead of the previous Samsung flagship, which uses a curved display.
We also get the latest Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 sensor under this display, which helps in better and almost 50% faster fingerprint authentication. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the first S series flagship to get S-Pen support, though you have to buy it separately, unlike the Note series of devices.
Samsung is the pioneer and the trendsetter with their A+ grade, Flagship displays, and this time, Samsung S21 Ultra has the industry-leading display quality. All this has made Samsung S21 Ultra a thick boy with 8.9mm thickness and weighs around 227gm.
Performance: Exynos with its rebirth
As we all know, in this part of the world, we will be treated with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 2100 SoC. Last year we had a big debate over the Samsung flagships shipping with two different SoC with 20% differences in their performance. This time it looks like Exynos has brought something interesting under their sleeves. It is a 5nm, octa-core SoC with one Cortex-X1 core clocked at 2.9 GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.80 GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz. Cortex-X1 is the latest ARM cores with more power than the ‘A’ cores. On paper, the Exynos CPU looks better than Snapdragon 888, with a higher clock speed in every department.
Talking about the GPU side of things, here we get Mali-G78 MP14 GPU. It is a 14 core GPU, which Samsung claims to be 40% better than their predecessors. We have to see how it stands in Adreno 660 GPU’s font from Qualcomm in real-life usage.
Let’s finish the performance section with RAM and Storage; with the S21 Ultra, you will be getting 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM along with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.
Samsung has packed the 3rd generation of their 108MP camera(HM 3 sensor) with S21 ultra. Here at the rear, we get 108MP f/.8 Primary lens complimented by a Laser Autofocus sensor and OIS. Along with that, we get a 10MP f/4.9 telescopic lens with Dual Pixel Autofocus, OIS, and 10X optical zoom. Here we have another zoom lens, with 10MP resolution at f/2.4, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, and 3X optical zoom. While the last one at the rear is a 12MP f/2.2 Ultra-wide lens, this one also has Dual Pixel tech and Super steady video capabilities. At the front, we are treated with a 40MP f/2.2 shooter with PDAF. Even this can record 4K@60 fps, and all the rear camera can record 4K at 60fps. Whereas with primary, you can go up to 8K at 24fps.
Samsung has brought up some cool camera features like Director mode and other features that seamlessly allow you to change lenses while recording video, AI improvements, and improved low-light photography. So, stay tuned for our full review for a detailed camera walk-through.
Battery and Software
Samsung S21 Ultra packs the largest battery among its siblings. Here we get a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Samsung should have at least provided a 45W fast charging as they have provided before. You can even charge it wirelessly at 15W and share all that juice at 4.5W with reverse wireless charging. Here, you should know that Samsung won’t provide a Power brick or the AKG tuned earphones like before as they also want to go green just like red Apple.
For, Software side of things, we will be getting the latest Android 11 out of the box with Samsung’s One UI 3.1 on top.
