Worldlink receives Nepal’s largest investment in the Internet sector.

Worldlink Communication is one of Nepal’s largest private-sector internet service providers which has received a massive series B investment of NRs 1.08 Billion (approx $8.4 million) from British International Investment (BII) and NRs 900 million (approx $6.9 million) from Dolma Impact Fund (DIFII) as one of the largest investment in the internet sector so far.

Worldlink’s Investment Purpose

The British International Investment (BII) and Dolma Impact Fund (DIFII) will help Worldlink to speed up the internet expansion activities across the country focusing on rural areas and enabling Worldlink to provide reliable internet service to more small and medium enterprises and households.

Worldlink Receives Nepal largest investment

Futhermore the quality internet will not only improve the lives of the people in Nepal but also help to create 1000 more job opportunities with skill enhancement training in the company along with the existing 5,500 employees.

Internet Penetration in Nepal

In comparison to other Asian countries Nepal’s reach in digital access is low which has created a major challenge in Nepal’s economic growth and overall development. Therefore, improving the access to quality internet will contribute to the development of communities and businesses.

Futhermore Worldlink has been running its FTTH service in the Karnali region which is one of the most difficult geographic terrains in high hills and one of the least developed regions. Moreover, Worldlink’s internet service has also reached rural parts of the country such as Chattrakot Rural Municipality and Ruru Rural Municipality. This was achieved by laying a thousand KM of fiber cable whereas according to Worldlink they currently have more than two million home pass (ports) capacity.
