Xiaomi Begins Testing HyperOS 2.0: Official Launch Expected in October

Xiaomi has officially started testing HyperOS 2.0, according to new information from the XiaomiTime team. While there have been leaks about HyperOS 2.0 for a few weeks, we now have confirmation that it’s being tested. This new version is expected to be officially introduced in October. In this article, we shall dive more into Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 and what it has in store for us.

Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 launching soon:

Xiaomi has sped up the development of HyperOS 2.0. A new extension called [OSBigversion] was found on the Xiaomi OTA server. This extension helps identify different HyperOS versions. For example, if you’re using HyperOS 1.0, it will show [OSBigversion] => 1.0, and if you’re using HyperOS 2.0, it will show [OSBigversion] => 2.0.

Previously, Xiaomi used a [Bigversion] extension for MIUI versions, like MIUI 14 would show as [bigversion] => 14. Now, they are using [OSBigversion] to differentiate HyperOS versions. This ensures that new HyperOS updates will arrive safely on your device.

HyperOS versions start with build numbers beginning with V816, referencing MIUI’s first release date, 16.8.2010. Before HyperOS 1.0 was released, it had the build number V15, indicating it was a rebranded MIUI 15. Despite some speculations, HyperOS is not a completely new operating system but an evolution of MIUI.

The build numbers for HyperOS 1.0 were V15.0.0.1.UMVCNXM, V15.0.0.1.UMCCNXM, and V15.0.0.1.ULQEUXM. HyperOS 2.0 is expected to be announced with the Xiaomi 15 series in October. Xiaomi usually introduces a new user interface with a major launch and then gradually releases updates. Now, we have to wait patiently for the arrival of HyperOS 2.0.
