In this article, let’s have a closer look into iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, all their new features, and expected prices in Nepal.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini Overview
Design & Display
At the first glance, you won’t notice much difference, but there are subtle differences. We get a similar glass sandwich design with an Almunium frame and boxy design. At the back, the camera layout is now diagonal and on the front, we get a 20% smaller notch on width and is a bit taller in height than the last year’s iPhones, housing all the face id tech. Talking about the display, iPhone 13 mini has a 5.4‑inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080-pixel, while the iPhone 13 has a larger 6.1-inch display with a 2532×1170-pixel resolution. Both are HDR displays with True Tone with Wide color (P3) with 800 nits brightness which can reach upto 1200 nits while consuming HDR content. Though both of them are still a 60Hz panel which is kind of a bummer for a flagship in 2021.
This is where Apple iPhone always shines, the performance. Both iPhone 13 and 13 Mini are powered by Apple’s latest A15 Bionic SoC. iPhones are always a generation ahead of the Androids when it comes to performance. The A15 Bionic is a 5nm chip with a 6‑core CPU with 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores and a new 4‑core GPU along with a 16-core Neural Engine. Both will have 6GB RAM along with 128/256/512GB internal storage.
Apple says that this is their most powerful dual camera setup and it should be. Talking about the specs, the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini pack has the same dual-camera setup with 12MP f/1.6, Primary camera with dual pixel PDAF, and sensor-shift stabilization with 7 element lens system. While for the ultra-wide we have a 12MP f/2.4 aperture and 120° field of view. We get to see an all-new Cinematic Video mode on the iPhone 13 and 13mini for recording videos with shallow depth of field with a cinematic look which capes out at [email protected]
We also get HDR video recording with Dolby Vision up to 4K at 60 fps and normal 4K video recording at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps. While with 1080P you can go upto 240fps. Sensor shift OIS is also available for video recording. At the front, we get a 12MP f/2.4 true depth camera system for 4K recording and face id.
Just like every year, Apple didn’t state the battery capacity but says the Mini will last 1.5 hours more than last year’s mode with upto 17 hours of video playback. While on the 13, we get a 2.5 hour longer battery than the iPhone 12 with upto 19 hours of video playback. iPhone 13 and 13 Mini supports 20W fast wired charging and 15W MagSafe wireless charging with 7.5W Qi Wireless charging. We get the latest iOS 15 on both models. Both the device comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
