Realme is one of the fastest-rising smartphone brands around the globe and they also have a major market presence in India. To further grab the market Realme today has launched two of its new devices under the Realme 8 number series; Realme 8i and Realme 8s 5G in India. Let’s have a closer look into Realme 8i along with its price in Nepal.
Redmi 8i Overview
Design & Display
Realme 8i features a shiny back with a quad-camera setup and a small Realme logo compared to large Dare to leap text. We have a plastic frame and power button which also acts as a fingerprint sensor. The device is 8.5mm thin and weighs around 194gm. Upfront we have a 6.6-inch FHD+ display. It’s an IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz of high refresh rate and has 6-level fresh rates at 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz,120Hz, which switches according to the content. In this display, we get a touch sampling of 180Hz with a maximum brightness of upto 600 nits.
For the performance we have a new MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, making it the first smartphone to feature this SoC in India. This is an octa-core CPU with upto 2.05Ghz clock speed along with Mali-G57 MC2 handling the GPU duties. Realme claims to work together with MediaTek to provide this chip. Along with this, you will be getting 4GB/6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB/128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. There’s not much of an upgrade over G95 SoC, but this one supports 120Hz, which was lacking in the previous one.
As we saw a 50MP camera setup from the recently launched Redmi 10 Prime, Realme following the same has provided a 50MP f/1.8 aperture with PDAF as the primary lens, along with a 2MP f/2.4 macro lens with a 4cm focus distance and the last one being a Black and white sensor also helping out with the portrait images. While at the front we get a 16MP f/2.0 shooter, which is also a 5P lens just like the primary one. With this setup Realme, 8i can shoot 1080P videos upto 30fps.
Realme 8i packs a 5000mAh cell with 18W fast charging via the Type-C port. Along with this, we get Dual-band Wifi with Bluetooth 5.1 and runs Realme UI 2.0 on top of Android 11. Realme 8i features a Dual sim set up with a dedicated slot for a micro-SD card slot. Though we only get a single bottom-firing speaker on this one.
Realme 8i has been launched in India starting at INR. 13,999 for 4GB+64GB variant. As Realme has recently re-launched in Nepal with a new distributor, we could expect competitive pricing from Realme this time. Talking about its price in Nepal, the expected price of Realme 8i in Nepal is Rs. 23,000 for 4GB+64GB and Rs. 26,000 for 6GB+128GB.
