Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G vs Samsung Galaxy M33 5G Overview
Design & Display
Right at the beginning, I would like to say, Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G looks and feels far more premium than the Galaxy M33 5G. On the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, we get flat edges with a frosted back and a rectangular camera bump. While the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G has a curved back with a matt plastic back and a square camera bump.
On the protection side of things, both the devices have Gorilla Glass 5 at the front. Redmi takes the lead here as it is IP53 rated for dust and water resistance. The inclusion of an IR blaster and dual stereo speakers are also a plus point for the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.
Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G takes the crown again when it comes to displaying. Redmi Note 11 Pro features a 6.67-inch AMOLED Display. This is an FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits of peak brightness. Samsung has a 6.6-inch FHD+ display too but it is a TFT panel. Here we get a 120Hz of refresh rate. The TFT panel can’t provide inky blacks and color like the AMOLED. The design and display aspect of comparing Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G vs Samsung Galaxy M33 5G goes to the Note 11 Pro 5G.
Performance and Software
Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is powered by Snapdragon 695 SoC. This is an octa-core SoC with 2×2.2 GHz Kryo 660 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 660 Silver CPU Cores. We have Adreno 619 handling the GPU duties. This 6nm SoC is powerful and efficient at the same time. Along with this, we get 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage.
The Samsung Galaxy M33 5G is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 1280 SoC. This is a 5nm chip with 2×2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 CPU Cores. On the GPU side of things, we have Mali-G68. All this is packed along with 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage and 6/8GB RAM.
If you look at the benchmark test, you won’t find much difference between both the processors. But as the Snapdragon 695 was released quite sometime now, the performance of the device running this SoC is much more optimized. When we tried gaming on the M33 5G, we didn’t find the device performing very well, though it had better GPU scores on Antutu than the Snapdragon 695. As the Exynos 1280 is based on 5nm architecture it would be more efficient than the Snapdragon 695. So, it’s a tie here when it comes to performance.
Talking about the software, Samsung Galaxy M33 5G looks far ahead of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. On the Galaxy M33 5G we get Android 12 out of the box with One Ui 4.1 on top. The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G still ships with Android 11, with MIUI 13. Samsung also promises 3 years of Android updates with 4 years of security updates. While the update situation on the Note 11 Pro 5G is not so clear.
We won’t talk much about the camera specs as they are mentioned above. Things to be noted are, though the Note 11 Pro 5G has a 108MP sensor, the 50MP sensor on Samsung Galaxy M33 has a larger f/1.8 aperture. Also, the ISP on the Samsung can record 4K videos upto 30fps while the Snapdragon 695 maxes out at 1080P at 30fps.
While at the front, we get an 8MP f/2.2 shooter and the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G has a 16MP shooter with an f/2.5 aperture. Talking about the Ultra-wide lens, Redmi Note 11 PRO 5G provides a 16MP lens with a 120˚ field of view, while the Galaxy M33 5G has a 5MP lens with a 123˚ field of view. So, the camera is a mixed bag here. Stay tuned for our detailed video comparison, coming soon on our youtube channel.
Battery and Features
Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G features a 5000mAh battery and has support for 67W fast charging. The best part is, that Xiaomi is providing this charger in the box. While the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G has a 6000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging. This time Samsung has decided to cut off the charger from the box.
Samsung Galaxy M33 5G might have slightly better battery endurance due to 5nm SoC and larger capacity battery. But if you look at the overall battery package, Note 11 Pro 5G might win it again here. Due to things like 67W fast charging, the inclusion of a fast charger in the box, and a decently sized 5000mAh battery we are going with the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G in the battery department.
