Xiaomi 12S Launched in China with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and 50MP Leica Camera

Xiaomi is on the row this year by launching back-to-back flagship devices. We already know, about their most premium offering, Xiaomi 12 Ultra which is launched with its other Xiaomi 12S series. The Xiaomi 12S is powered by the latest Snapdragon SoC. Today, we will be talking about Xiaomi 12S along with its features and specifications. We will also be discussing the expected Xiaomi 12S price in Nepal.

Design & Display 

The Xiaomi 12S will feature a similar design language to the previously launched Xiaomi 12 & Xiaomi 12 Pro. Here we have a matt back finished with a rectangular camera bump at the rear. At the front, we are expecting a 120Hz OLED display, though the display size is still unknown. The device will be getting, a Stereo Speaker setup and a punch-hole display with rounded corners. 

Camera 

For the cameras of Xiaomi 12S, it will be getting a 50MP Primary Shooter powered by LEICA. As we know, Xiaomi has officially partnered with Leica for the cameras on their upcoming flagship devices. Xiaomi 12S is one of the smartphones from the brand to be launched with a Leica-powered camera along with Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12S Pro. Along with the primary camera, we can also see two additional camera sensors, which are an Ultra-Wide and a telephoto shooter. 

Performance & Software

Xiaomi 12S is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. This is an upgraded chip from Qualcomm. According to the brand, here we get 10% faster CPU performance and 10% faster GPU clock over the SD 8 Gen 1 along with 30% improved efficiency. The SoC has been manufactured by TSMC so we are expecting better thermal management than the last iteration. 

The Xiaomi 12S will be supporting up to 12GB RAM. While it will have UFS 3.1 storage with up to 512GB. Whereas the device will be running the latest Android 12 with MIUI 13 skin on top. 

Battery & Other Features 

Talking about the battery capacity of the Xiaomi 12S. It features a 4500 mAh battery. Whereas the device will support 67W of fast charging along with wireless charging support. The 67W fast charger is capable of fully charging the device in under 42minutes. Whereas on the other features Xiaomi 12S gets Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6e, opitical under-display fingerprint, and USB Type-C 2.0. 

Xiaomi 12S Price in Nepal & Availability 

The Xiaomi 12S is tagged at CNY 4,000 for the 8/128 GB base variant. Whereas the same memory configuration with 8/256GB is available for CNY 4,300. The device is yet to be launched in the Nepali market. But if you look at the specs of the device and the competitive pricing of Xiaomi in Nepal, the expected price of Xiaomi 12S in Nepal is NPR 85,999.
